How-To: Create A Segment

Learn how to create, save, and reuse custom segments

Segments are a powerful feature in the BlastPoint platform that allow you to target specific customer groups with messages that resonate. By creating custom segments based on criteria that matter to your business, you can tailor your marketing efforts and analyses to specific audiences, improving relevance and effectiveness.

Putting it All Together

  1. Identify key criteria for segmentation
  2. Create custom segments based on the identified criteria
  3. Save and organize segments for easy access and reuse

Step 1:

Determine the most relevant attributes to your business goals and customer understanding. These may include:

  • Demographics (e.g., age, income, location)
  • Purchase history (e.g., products purchased, frequency, recency)
  • Interests (e.g., preferences, behaviors, survey responses)

Consider how these criteria can be used to create meaningful customer groups.

Step 2:

In the BlastPoint platform, navigate to the segment page and click "Create Segment"

Define your segment by selecting the desired criteria and specifying each condition. For example, create an "AutoPay Customers" segment by selecting customers with AutoPay = True.

Note that the "AND" operator will filter your segment to satisfy both rules, while the "OR" operator will filter your segment based on customers who satisfy either rule.

Repeat this process to create segments for customer groups or campaign targets.

Step 3:

Use segments to conduct focused analyses on specific customer groups, such as understanding demographics or identifying upsell opportunities.

Monitor the performance of your campaigns and analyses by segment to gain insights and optimize your strategies over time.

On the Segment page, you can jump back in to recently viewed segments or take a look at all of the segments available to you in one place. Here, you'll find all of the segments you've created (My Segments), any that have been shared publicly (Shared Segments), and segments created by BlastPoint as part of any AI Module development (System Segments).
